High Ropes Challenge Course Attendants

For Summer 2024


This position manages the day-to-day operations and activities, of staff and guests, that take place on and around the High Ropes Challenge Course at Iron Pony Adventure Park.


Iron Pony Adventure Park is seeking applicants for the position of High Ropes Challenge Course Attendant. These positions require outgoing, adventurous, and safety conscious individuals. Course Attendants are responsible for communicating with and overseeing guests during their experience at Iron Pony Adventure Park. Course Attendants ensure an unforgettable and safe adventure. They will go above and beyond to encourage and inspire customers to overcome challenges. Course Attendants enjoy helping people, love the outdoors and the thrill of working with a team.


Job Type

  • Seasonal - Full time/Part time (June - September)
  • Private bookings & Special Holiday events may be scheduled in the off season


Training

  • Onsite training for course certification will be conducted:
  • June 3 - 7, 2024
  • 9:00 am - 5:30 pm each day
  • 30 minute lunch break
  • Training is paid
  • Must be available to attend all 5 days of training


Responsibilities

Include (but not limited to):

  • Fit helmets and harnesses for guests and familiarize them to the safety equipment they will be using during their experience
  • Conduct safety demonstrations and training sessions for guests and consistently assess the needs of each guest while in the course
  • Use of Point Of Sale system
  • Checking in customers and providing positive interactions
  • Engage and build a relationship with guests while on the course
  • Supervise the use of all equipment
  • Provide and document thorough daily inspections of equipment, and opening and closing duties of the Iron Pony Adventure Park site
  • Operating the challenge/ropes course activities including performing assists, retrievals and rescues as needed
  • Attend required trainings and meetings
  • Promote a safe and enjoyable attitude at all times with guests and staff to ensure a positive lifelong memory
  • Assist in grounds and course maintenance as needed
  • Complying with and enforcing the policies, procedures, and regulations of Iron Pony Adventure Park
  • Assist with any other duties that may be assigned


Qualifications

  • Prior high ropes and/or climbing experience preferred but not required
  • College students are encouraged to apply
  • Must be 18 years of age or older for this position
  • Ability to engage with guests of all ages in individual and group settings while being creative and personable
  • Commitment to safety and attention to detail
  • Must have excellent verbal communication and customer service skills
  • Must be able to assist guests up to 250lbs from the course (with rescue assist equipment)
  • Have full range of motion and the ability to hike, climb, rappel, and assist guests at heights
  • Must have evening and weekend availability and flexible weekday availability
  • Must be able to perform all job functions for long periods of time in all weather conditions on the ground and/or at heights
  • Working knowledge of computers
  • Must successfully complete ropes course and annual training covering operating procedures and technical competencies


Physical Requirements

  • Must be comfortable with heights up to 36 feet
  • Candidates must have the physical capability to maneuver themselves as well as assist and accommodate participants throughout the course, including rescue scenarios if needed
  • Must be able to walk, stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours
  • Must have full range of overhead arm motions and full hand dexterity
  • Requires visual acuity and the ability to hear clearly in an outdoor environment
  • Must have a strong upper body to pull self and be able to pull and push participants weighing up to 265 lbs along each cable and platform's incline (if required)
  • Must be able to bend, twist, stoop, squat, stretch, push and pull on a regular and continuous basis.
  • Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs on a regular and continuous basis


Work Environment

  • Each Course Attendant is required to work in a fast-paced, physical, social, and team-oriented work environment. The majority of the work is conducted in climates from 60 degrees Fahrenheit to 90 degrees Fahrenheit, in the wind (moderate), rain and sun.


Hours

  • This position can require full time (30-40 hours a week) during the high season (Late Spring & Summer) and abbreviated hours during the shoulder seasons
  • If candidate is seeking more than 20 hrs. of employment per week, weekend shifts will be required
  • Hours of employment are dependent on business demands
